Energy Hygiene

Cleaning What You Can't See

Most of us are meticulous about physical hygiene. We shower, we scrub, we stock our bathrooms with products designed to keep our bodies clean. We understand instinctively that hygiene matters—for our health, our well-being, and our relationships with others.

But here's what shifts when you wake up: you begin to realize you're not just a physical body and mind. You're also spirit—a life force energy that moves you through the world and powers every experience you have.

Once you make that shift, everything changes. Your grooming and cleaning habits can't stop at the physical. They need to extend to your energy field, too.

Understanding Energy Contamination

Our life force energy gets calibrated by the thoughts we generate throughout the day. It moves from person to person in the form of emotions—literally, energy in motion. It's almost like a plasma that permeates our bodies and gets exchanged when we interact with people and objects.

When we experience situations that trigger negative thoughts and emotions—during conflicts, stressful encounters, difficult conversations—and we don't take the time and presence to deeply process what we're feeling, that "negative energy" stays in our field. It pulls us down. It manifests as fatigue, overwhelm, confusion, and pain. All the feelings most of us habitually avoid and suppress.

This contaminated energy doesn't just sit there. It spreads. When we fight, complain, gossip, or dump on others, we're spreading it around. Even the chair we sit on, the couch we collapse into, the clothes we wear—it all gets contaminated.

Buddhists call this contamination "Drib" (sdrib), and they distinguish between mental and emotional varieties. If you want to dive deeper into this concept, there's a wealth of material in Buddhist texts.

Why Energy Hygiene Matters

As you work to raise your frequency, learning how to clean your energy becomes essential. Without this practice, you're constantly operating at a lower vibration, weighed down by accumulated energetic debris.

The good news? There are effective tools we can use.

Clean Your Environment First

Here's the thing: if your environment is contaminated, it doesn't matter how much you clean yourself. You'll keep recontaminating yourself until you fully process the energy in your space.

Sunshine is the most powerful energy disinfectant there is. Opening your blinds, windows, and doors to let in sunshine and fresh air is something many of us do instinctively. Every morning, I hang my sleeping blankets on the balcony for about 20 minutes while I get ready, and I make sure my pillows and mattress get some sun too. If I have clothes I don't want to wash right away, I hang those out as well.

Washing your clothes and bedsheets removes energy contamination. Every time you clean the house, you're also cleaning the energy of the house. That's why it always feels so good after a deep clean—it's not only physical.

Fire and smoke are powerful cleansing tools. Just turning on the fireplace or lighting some candles makes a huge difference for the energy inside your home.

I use smoke from incense, like frankincense, to clean specific areas in a more targeted way. It's especially useful for the car. Sometimes when I go out to parties or events, I contaminate my car on the ride back. The next day, when I get in again, I recontaminate myself if I haven't cleaned the car first. Make sure you get the seatbelts too—sometimes I can feel the exact outline of the energy that was stuck on the seat belt when I get back in after cleaning my own energy.

I always keep incense in my car for especially heavy energy after certain events or coming back from intense healing sessions.

Clean Your Own Energy

Sleep is your most natural energy cleanser. When you get adequate rest, your conscious mind sleeps while your body and subconscious mind clean and heal your energy. I've realized that a big part of my dreams are processing experiences and emotions I encountered throughout the day. When sleep is interrupted, the body and psyche can't repair themselves adequately.

Cold showers offer quick cleansing. Your aura contracts in the cold and flushes out negative energy. Once you warm up again, it bounces back to normal size. You can also visualize the water cleaning your aura and chakras. Just make sure to go out in the sun afterward and recharge your field. The water shouldn't be so cold that it shocks your circulation, especially on your head.

Candles provide gentle, sustained cleansing. Sit and relax next to a candle placed within your auric field for at least 20 minutes, and you'll feel a strong difference in clarity and lightness. Never blow out the flame when you're done—suffocate it with something non-flammable instead.

Incense works in emergencies, but with a caveat. It's very effective but also leaves your aura vulnerable. It takes time for the aura to seal itself again, and you could pick up other energies while you wait. Best case scenario: clean your own energy before going to bed so you wake up with a sealed aura. The key is to clean the energy of your bed before cleaning your aura, so you don't recontaminate yourself.

The most powerful method I know is traditional Mongolian cleansing. It requires taking a salt bath with candles three days in a row. There are specific instructions for this method—if you're interested, comment below or send me an email and I'll send you the details.

Finding Balance

Energy hygiene is as important as physical hygiene. Being able to clean your energy is extremely helpful when you're working to raise your frequency, because it allows you to reset. You become more and more aware of which thoughts trigger which emotions, and you learn to modulate your thoughts and behaviors to generate higher frequencies. You can pull yourself out of toxic situations and recalibrate yourself when you pick up negative energies from the places and people you encounter.

I always clean my own energy after doing a session on someone or when I feel too contaminated and stuck in emotional pain.

But here's my warning: don't make my mistake of insisting on being too clean all the time. For a while, I became completely OCD about the negative energies I was picking up everywhere I went. The truth is, some level of contamination is necessary—as a protection shield and as fuel for your own evolution. If you clean everything constantly, there's no growth possible. It's like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Having these tools allows you to have more control over the contamination and take it bite by bite. You get to choose when and how to cleanse, rather than being at the mercy of every energy you encounter.

The Bigger Picture

All the unprocessed emotions and energies floating around the world is what I believe Carl Gustav Jung called the collective unconscious. The more the individuals of a collective pay attention to their energy hygiene, heal their wounds, and commit to higher frequency thoughts and emotions, the more the collective will heal.

This isn't just about personal wellness—it's about contributing to the healing of humanity itself.

The Ultimate Goal

Eventually, as you progress in your healing and awakening journey, your chakras heal from the traumas and injuries of the past and your auric field becomes so strong that no contamination is possible anymore. The chakras can process and alchemize any and all energies out there, and you will remain clean, grounded, and shining, with powerful boundaries and life force energy.

That's the real power of energy hygiene: not perfection, but conscious choice—and ultimately, transformation into someone who no longer needs constant protection because they've become that strong.
